Indy Shows Pace In Silverstone Opener Despite Non Finishes

Indy Offer leaves the opening round of 2019 British Junior Supersport season in a positive mood despite failing to finish both races at Silverstone earlier today.

Embarking on his first full season of racing within the British Superbike paddock, Indy improved his lap times throughout the weekend, and after running strongly in Free Practice he qualified a credible nineteenth after some overnight tech changes to his Kawasaki Ninja 400.

Race one initially saw Indy charge through the field. Lapping significantly faster than those around him he was soon in the fight for tenth before a mistake from a rival saw him punted into the gravel.

Thankfully both he and the bike were race fit for the day’s second encounter and another solid start saw him running in the points. His start however was judged to have been a bit too good, the #18 handed a ride through penalty, effectively ruining any chance of a point scoring finish.

Nevertheless, Indy is confident for the season ahead having shown that he has a race pace to score some serious points during his 2019 British Junior Supersport campaign.

Indy Offer:
“Free Practice was really good. It was nice to finally get the season started. The bike felt good and even though we needed to make some small changes I was looking forward to qualifying. The times in Junior Supersport are always close and after a debrief I was excited to put into practice what I needed to do for a faster lap. Qualifying was tough, I couldn’t find a tow which makes such a difference at Silverstone, but I improved my lap times by over half a second and felt that if I made a good start, I could run in the points which was the target for round one. I made a decent start and passed five people on the opening lap but then I got taken out. We changed the gearing for race two and I was hitting the limiter. I also jumped the start. I knew it was close and thought maybe I had judged it perfectly but then they gave me the penalty. The signal was on the left and I didn’t see it so I was black flagged. On one hand it’s been a terrible opening round but on the other hand I’ve shown pace and that when things go our way that we should be able to score some pretty decent points. It just wasn’t meant to be this time. Big thanks to everyone that is helping me and see you at the next round!”
