Indy Offer finishes P14 in Spain to secure his first WorldSSP300 race finish
Indy Offer leaves the MotorLand Aragon FIM Supersport 300 World Championship ‘double header’ with his first WorldSSP300 finish under his belt and a renewed confidence as the season moves to Catalunya in a fortnight.
The latest round, named #TeruelWorldSBK by the championship organisers DORNA, gave the #18 Scuderia Maranga Team rider the opportunity to put into practice the things learned a week ago, as well as trying a number of different settings with his Kawasaki.
An outstanding improvement in terms of lap time in FP1 guaranteed his place on the grid for Saturday’s race, Indy finishing the ten-lap encounter in fourteenth position, after getting the better of the personal on track duel he was involved in.
Improving from eighteenth on the grid to P14 at the flag is a massive confidence boost for the British teenager who is still riding with a stable fracture to his right leg.
Round six of the series takes place at the Catalunya Circuit in a fortnight with Indy ready to improve yet further.
“Friday we were back on track at Aragon. We made a change from a week ago and immediately improved by five seconds! We were looking forward to FP2 but sadly I was one of the riders (a third of the entire field) that was handed a penalty for riding slowly on the racing line, so we were unable to ride in the second session of the day. Saturday’s FP3 we tried something which wasn’t bad but in fifteen minutes we didn’t really have time to fully evaluate. We changed something again for the race, as with missing a few races with the leg we are using every opportunity to improve my feeling so that when I am fully fit, hopefully by Catalunya we can move further up the field. I finished P14 which I am really proud of, when you consider everything that has gone against me this year. I had a great battle which I really enjoyed, and I am so happy we chose this route this year – even with the current Coronavirus situation. The team are great, and I can’t thank them enough for everything that they are doing. A big thank you once again to Monica and the staff at the Clinica Mobile, and of course to everyone who is supporting me. Two weeks to build more strength in the leg and then let’s see what we can do in Catalunya.”
