Indy Offer Produces Season’s Best In Portugal
Fresh from announcing his 2021 plans on Thursday that will see him remain with the Scuderia Maranga Kawasaki squad in World Supersport 300, British teenager Indy Offer produced a season’s best result in the 2020 WorldSSP season finale in Portugal.
The Estoril circuit, which returned to the World Superbike calendar for the first time since 1993 was another circuit for the #18 rider, who despite several issues during the opening day’s Free Practice session remained professional and objective ahead of today’s race.
Improvements in FP3, saw immediate time gains on track and when the lights went out Indy produced a race that he can be truly proud of. Reducing the deficit to the leaders significantly, he crossed the line in eleventh position, a result that delighted the team.
Indy goes into the winter with a full season of World Championship experience and with a series of post and pre-season tests planned is excited and optimistic of what the 2021 season holds.
“Friday was a difficult day. We had so many problems with set-up and a few other gremlins. I pushed 100% but nothing worked. We found some things which explained why on the data and after sleeping on it FP3 was much better. We still weren’t 100% happy and so we looked at the data and changed something for the race and immediately went four seconds faster. At the end of the race my laps were the same as the leading group which gives me a massive boost going into 2021. You can’t compare but it was as if the race was my FP1, but that’s racing, and we just have to learn from it. I am incredibly happy to end the year on a high, it was a great race, and I cannot thank my team enough. It’s been a strange and weird season for everyone, and breaking my leg definitely wasn’t in the plan but all in all I feel I have made so much progress. The team have been so supportive, and they believe in me, so it was a really easy decision to sign to stay with them. Hopefully, the new calendar comes out soon and I hope that we can have an even better season next year. A big thank you to all of my sponsors, to Scuderia Maranga and to DORNA for ensuring that we actually had a season. Stay safe and see you on the grid next year!”
