Career Best Finish For Indy Offer In WorldSSP300
Indy Offer raced to a career best finish in the second race of the opening round of the 2021 FIM Supersport 300 World Championship at Motorland Aragon in Spain today, after a technical issue forced his retirement in the season opener yesterday.
After an off-season of intense training both on tarmac and off-road, the British teen rode brilliantly throughout the weekend, posting a circuit Personal Best on Friday in Free Practice, before going even faster in the first race of the season.
From lights out on Sunday Indy was aggressive, determined to make amends for the DNF twenty-four hours earlier. Improving his grid position on the opening lap the #18 rider settled into a rhythm, riding around an intermittent gear change issue, to take the chequered flag in thirty first position, his maiden WorldSSP300 race finish!
“All in all the weekend was probably the best I have had since moving into a World Championship paddock. It was the closest I’ve ever been to the front of the field and much faster than last year. I am happy to have been able to run with the midfield guys in all of the sessions. It’s a shame we had a problem in Race 1 as I felt really good and was in the middle of a big group of riders but that’s racing. Today was wet in Warm-Up and I didn’t really push as the track was so cold and there wasn’t a lot of feeling. The race itself I went with dry tyres and after a decent start the same problem that caused me to retire on Saturday came back. I was able to keep going but it made the race so much more difficult. I was happy to finish as it is my first World Championship race finish and now, we have got the first one out of the way we know where we need to improve and what we can do differently. I need to get more out of every session and that’s something I will work on. The team is working well and there is a great feeling with everyone. It’s a shame that we don’t race at Estoril as it means a little longer until Misano, but I will be ready!”
