Indy satisfied with Supersport 300 progress at Estoril
British teenager Indy Offer secured another double top thirty finish in the third round of the FIM Supersport World Championship after a strong opening day on Friday and a race finish that saw him finish closer to the winner than he ever previously has.
Lapping considerably faster at the 4.1km Portuguese circuit than he ever has, Indy was confident of two strong races, and despite a couple of mistakes, leaves Estoril satisfied with the step made.
The next round of the championship takes place in Italy, BR Corse’s home race, where Indy will look to continue the positive steps made and close the gap to the front still further.
“The weekend was much better than the first two rounds and I was much closer to the front on Friday after FP2. I was a bit unlucky in qualifying and made a mistake but sometimes these things happen. In Race 1 on Saturday, I was able to finish the closest to the front that I ever have in the World Championship which was a nice little confidence for me. It was wet in the warm up on Sunday but I had a really good feeling, and I was ahead of several riders, and I really enjoyed in. In Race 2 I stayed with the group on the opening lap but then I locked up on my first flying lap and lost a bit of time. Overall, I am happy to be making more progress. I want thank BR Corse for their great work again and to say well done to Mirko, my team mate, for finishing on the podium. I am looking forward to the next test before Misano and then to racing at the home event for the team in a few weeks.”
